Here's a five-card spread designed for binary choices — not to help you "win," but to show you who each option would ask you to become.
1. Why Most Binary Spreads Fail
The most common binary spread: left card = option A, right card = option B, middle card = advice. The problem: comparing two single cards is too thin — you're deciding based on which card "looks more positive," not on actual information. A good binary spread asks not "which is better" but "what awaits on each path, and who would each path ask me to become?"

3. Three Principles for Reading This Spread
- Don't compare "which card is nicer" — compare which path asks you to become someone you'd rather be: 3 of Wands vs. 4 of Pentacles has no hierarchy — 3 of Wands makes you a pioneer, 4 of Pentacles makes you a guardian. Who do you want to become?
- Hidden costs (positions 3 and 5) are the most valuable cards: The biggest mistake in decision-making is seeing only each path's benefits. Hidden cost isn't "this path is bad" — it's "this is what this path asks you to give up." Are you ready to give it up?
- Position 1 sometimes already gives you the answer: If position 1 is the 4 of Pentacles reversed — you're already gripping too tight. A or B isn't the problem; you're not ready to make any choice yet.
