Thirteen Stone Divination

Lithomancy Guide

What is Lithomancy?

Lithomancy is one of humanity's oldest forms of divination, dating back to the Bronze Age (circa 3000 BCE). Priestesses at the Oracle of Delphi in ancient Greece used sacred stones for prophecy, and Roman temples have similar records. This system uses the traditional 13-stone method: 7 stones represent the celestial bodies (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn—corresponding to the seven days of the week), 4 represent the four elements (Fire, Air, Water, Earth), plus 2 special stones for Wealth and Love. Scottish Celtic traditions and modern crystal divination share close roots with lithomancy. By casting stones and observing their positions, profound insights about life questions can be revealed.

How to Divine Properly?

  • Questions can be open-ended, like "How will my career develop?"
  • Calm your mind before casting and focus on your question
  • Observe the distance and positional relationships between stones
  • ⚠️Stones close together have stronger mutual influence; distant ones have less
  • Do not over-interpret results; lithomancy provides guidance, not certainty
