What is Guanyin Oracle?
The Guanyin Oracle originated during the Song Dynasty (10th-13th century) and is one of the most widespread divination practices in Chinese folk tradition. Legend says Guanyin Bodhisattva, out of great compassion, created these oracle sticks to answer devotees questions. The traditional set contains 100 sticks, each with accompanying poems (typically seven-character quatrains) and historical stories. The most famous versions come from Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou and Mount Putuo, with poems referencing stories like "Liu Bei Borrowing Jingzhou" and "Wang Zhaojun Leaving for Beyond the Pass." Seekers first silently recite the Buddha name three times, then shake the stick holder until one falls out. The oracle provides directional guidance for career, relationships, wealth, health, and other life matters.
